Bangalore Rural District

The Bangalore (Rural) district is located in the South-Eastern corner of Karnataka spanning a geographical area of 5,841 Sq.km. and it forms about 3 per cent of the total state area of the state.

The total population of the district is 1877416 as per the census. Bangalore Rural District is essentially an agricultural district with ample scope for industrialization, dairy, development and sericulture Channapatna, a small hamlet 46 kms. from Bangalore on the Mysore highway, excels in lacquer ware, a craft practiced today by over 3000 local crafts persons.
